A Still More Excellent Way:
A Path Beyond Christian Nationalism
A Path Beyond Christian Nationalism
Resources curated by the Task Force to Address Christian Nationalism in the Diocese of California
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it… Strive for the greater gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of humans and of angels but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal… Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable; it keeps no record of wrongs; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
(1 Corinthians 12:27, 31, 13:1, 4-7)
The Diocese of California is committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through love, justice, and the affirmation of every person’s dignity. In faithful response to our Baptismal Covenant, we unequivocally reject Christian nationalism as a distortion of the Christian faith. We seek to equip our congregations and institutions with resources that promote an inclusive, anti-racist, and welcoming Church, actively engaging in education, dialogue, and digital outreach to counter narratives of division and fear with Christ’s message of peace, unity, and hope.
